Brett Moore Hits A Grand Slam: A Review of BATTER UP! MY BRAIN ON BASEBALL

Picture

BATTER UP! MY BRAIN ON BASEBALL is spellbinding. Brett's love and passion for America's favorite pass time is infectious, he takes the audience on a ride that inspires them to think differently about the sport we thought we knew. This is without a doubt, one of the finalist examples of a solo show I have ever seen performed.

Brett Moore is no stranger to Theatre, having stage managed the previous three years with seasoned company Theatre Unleashed at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, He also serves as the Company Manager for The Sierra Madre Playhouse.

But choosing to take a chance on himself, this year he makes his on-stage acting debut with the brand new solo show Batter UP!. This is not only one of the best solo shows performed at this year's festivals but an absolute perfect example in how to lead and engage with your audience.

To be honest, I was a filled with a bit of trepidation walking into this show, I consider myself a casual Baseball fan at best, who attends one to two games a year primarily for the cold beer, dodger dogs and spending time with friends.
Moore's storytelling style is so fast-paced and engaging. But it is his easy-going enigmatic personality that makes you feel like you have known him your whole life that keeps you coming back for more.

Come prepared to be astounded by his feats of incredible recall, his didactic memory and ability to recall his vast storage of Baseball knowledge archived in his mind is simply astounding.

That being said, this show is much more than fun games played with the audience and impressive displays of mental recollection, it is a love letter to someone favorite passions, and that genuine excitement is inspiring. It is a beautiful reminder that life is meant to be enjoyed to the fullest, that it is our hobbies and interests that inspire and drive us, and it is more than okay to feel that childlike wonder once again.

I firmly believe this show puts Moore as the clear front-runner for "Fringe" Rookie of the year. Brett Moore has called his shot and hit it out of the park with this show, I can't stress how much recommend this show.

Do yourself a favor and run, don't walk to Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball.
